Westec 2001: Zeiss' ScanMax flexible scanning gage available with Holos-NT or Dimension software
Carl Zeiss will announce at WESTEC 2001 (Booth #277) that it has enhanced the inspection capabilities of the ScanMax manual scanning gage.
The easy-to-use ScanMax is now available with CAD-based HOLOS-NT and DIMENSION software packages to allow faster and easier generation of CAD data with minimal parameter set-up.

HOLOS-NT software incorporates a complete surface description of a part via a number of CAD file import functions, measuring form deviations between the CAD-generated free form shape and the part. If no CAD model exists, HOLOS can be used to reverse engineer a master part in order to create a CAD model.
DIMENSION software is a dedicated reverse engineering tool that eliminates the need for data order or regularity. The emphasis is on enabling CMM operators to create and handle complex models quickly and efficiently without the assistance of a CAD expert.
The CAD-intelligent DIMENSION software produces mathematical descriptions to create, visualize and manipulate points, curves, geometric and free form surfaces.
The addition of HOLOS-NT and DIMENSION software reduces operator-training time, enabling shop floor machine operators to quickly perform highly accurate measurement of CAD data.
The ScanMax manual scanning gage allows operators to perform in-process inspection — acquiring up to 200 points per second — to verify dimension, form and position.
Equipped with a polymer base and wheels for greater mobility, ScanMax compensates for vibration, temperature, and air particle environmental factors.
