Thread Inspection Measurements At The Mahr Contour Measuring Station

When checking threads a "good" or "bad" rating is often not enough. Thread manufacturers require more detailed information about the thread parameters. Applications specialist Mahr offers a new thread evaluation option on the MarSurf XC 20, XCR 20 and XP contour measuring stations, providing quick and easy access to the relevant parameters.
The new thread inspection function at MarSurf contour measuring stations is the measurement alternative to conventional thread gages. Mahr has added the thread evaluation option to the measuring system's MarWin software platform. Thread parameters such as the outer, inner and pitch diameter can now also be accurately recorded at the contour measuring station. Parameters such as the pitch and height of the thread as well as the straightness of the flanks and radii in the thread grooves can also be tested.
Measurements are carried out automatically at the relevant measuring positions, thus saving time in quality control whilst avoiding user-related measuring errors. The innovative Mahr probe with "twin stylus" can be used to measure both the top and bottom thread contour making operation even faster and easier.
Clear menu windows help with evaluation and documentation of the measuring data. Another advantage of the new thread evaluation option is that both cylindrical and conical threads can be tested and evaluated – of particular interest to the Asian market.
