Tecnomatix-Unicam releases web-based tool to monitor electronics machines
This web-based solution is a network-enabled tool that provides real-time monitoring of surface-mount machines. The company is unveiling the solution at this week's APEX electronics show in San Diego, CA.
The eMPower Production Advisor allows electronics manufacturers to graphically monitor the printed circuit board manufacturing process, generate performance reports, and receive real-time manufacturing data. It translates the information, then stores it for real-time distribution over the Internet. The software lets them minimize production loss and optimize current manufacturing processes; they also will have access to a tactical decision support system. It supports SMT machines from a variety of vendors and can share data with other Tecnomatix-Unicam tools such as Quality System and Assembly Expert.
Other features of Production Advisor give manufacturers the ability to analyze and search real-time and historical manufacturing data for performance trends. All data received is integrated into the client application and then stored in a database for later use. They include:
- reducing equipment downtime by providing better information about actual usage
- minimizing scrap through early identification of abnormal manufacturing behavior
- conducting extensive analysis of use, shift performance, scrap expense, line throughput, parts per hour, and defects per minute
- producing reports from historical data on board production, machine use, errors, and alarms
- helping balance lines as a result of reports and manufacturing data analysis
- providing an early warning system with alarms and thresholds on feeder errors, nozzle errors, and machine state
