SPC Software for Windows

Stochos, Inc.is a flexible, user-definable, real-time statistical process control monitoring and analysis database that's specifically designed for the factory floor. As part of its shopfloor design, this solution accepts both manual and direct gage input; it also can automatically poll larger process control data acquisition systems. As a 32-bit application, it can run on Windows 95, 98, or NT.

The software contains two modules: the SPC monitor (operator interface) and the database manager. In addition to providing added security, this program design allows for a useful division of labor that contributes to operator ease-of-use and screen simplicity.

The monitor is the operator interface through which data is gathered and SPC analysis is performed. With one click, the operator can view any of the 32 configurable SPC charts and view SOPs or variable-specific corrective action instructions. Operators can enter comments, view graphic images (CAD), log environmental conditions, and switch between parts (products) with a click of the mouse.

The software contains the tools necessary for factory-floor SPC implementation:

•cause of failure logging
•operating procedure display
•corrective action display

Because of the real-time nature of the software, it simultaneously updates SPC charts and associated calculations as data is collected. All violations of control tests and specification limits are immediately conveyed to the operator using an on-screen alarm. This "watchdog" approach eliminates the need for operators to view each chart to check for out-of-control conditions, thus freeing up time for other tasks.
