Portable CMM
The mobile measuring device is based on a hand probe (the firm's Space Probe) and a camera system, and its technology combines high-accuracy measurements with freedom of probe motion. The position and orientation of the Space Probe are measured by the camera using infrared LEDs. The X, Y, and Z coordinates of the probe are calculated online. Different software packages are available for geometric measurements reverse engineering, and CAD model comparison (jigs, parts, tools, fixtures, etc.).
Features include:
- online measurement accuracy feedback
- solid state equipment
- modular touch probe
- fast setup and measurement
- large measurement volume
- expandable measurement volume through jump function
- interfaces to commercial geometric software packages
- scanning mode for fast surface digitalization
The camera can be mounted in any position and orientation and the probe offers six degrees of freedom motion.
Applications for this PC based system (Windows NT or 95) include geometric measurements of tools and fixtures, geometric measurements in production environments, CAD model comparison (IGES, VDA, Nurbs), and surface digitalization.
Geometric software, which the customer chooses, provides Windows functionality, automatically generated inspection reports, data management database, geometric elements and freeform surfaces, automatic probe tip correction, and graphical representations.
