For use on easy-to-install upgrades to complete control retrofits, Giddings & Lewis now supplies the NumeriStation operator station with the Windows NT, open-architecture multi-tasking operating system. The NumeriStation operator station contains a built-in PC that provides the CNC user with complete PC functionality, while the NumeriPath 8000 CNC controls the machine tool. Benefits range from improved part program handling to using PC applications to enhance manufacturing processes. The NumeriStation features the popular easy-to-use Windows NT operating system, a powerful Intel Pentium II processor, and plenty of hard drive storage and memory. Windows NT allows ease in accessing and utilizing control data, on-line documentation, custom applications, networks, third-party CAD/CAM graphics, and other off-the-shelf products providing open-architecture technology. Moreover, the PC and related software can be utilized while machining without sacrificing performance or reliability, giving you unprecedented functionality and flexibility. To accommodate the use of very long or many part programs, they can be stored directly on the large hard drive ready for the CNC to run. The NumeriStation also allows you to connect directly to your network to create an easy-to-use DNC or file-transfer system.
