Onetta Moves Into New Corporate Headquarters
"In today's optical market our customers, network equipment manufacturers, increasingly seek intelligent sub-systems which differentiate their platforms. Given the general availability of our Intelligent Optical Engines, Onetta continues to experience increased demand for our C-Band and L-Band intelligent optical amplifiers. Therefore, we needed to expand our R&D labs, manufacturing capacity and operations to accommodate this business growth," stated Dennis Barsema, president, CEO and chairman of Onetta, Inc. "This is clearly more than a change of address for the company. This move signifies that intelligent sub-systems have established their place within optical networks and Onetta will capitalize on this market shift with a world-class facility to design, develop, and manufacture our IOES."
In addition to providing increased manufacturing capacity, Onetta's new facility has been re-designed based on demand flow technology. This layout allows for high volume manufacturing capabilities with flexible and streamlined capacity planning. Onetta can dynamically ramp manufacturing as part of its new product introduction process, while keeping the lines running for existing customer orders.
"Onetta's operational excellence can really be showcased in this new facility," commented Orlando Reyes, VP, Operations at Onetta. "Our Tier I Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Product Data Management (PDM) systems are fully integrated into our manufacturing and supply chain processes. This integration results in rapid time-to-market and more importantly for our customers, rapid time-to volume."
As part of its quality assurance practices, Onetta has incorporated fully automated testing capabilities into its operation. The company adheres to Six Sigma manufacturing methodology and has best-in-class quality systems in place.
Recognized as one of the most progressive companies in the optical subsystems market, Onetta is implementing manufacturing execution systems (MES) that allow collaborative manufacturing with vendors and customers. By implementing MES, Onetta is able to trace every component in the manufacturing process and overall product life cycle. MES links planning and design information with manufacturing and supplier data. The detailed history records of all specific components within final finished units throughout their lifecycle are accessible via a database, which allows real-time communications on the plant floor to manage changes and process optimization, resulting in improved time-to-volume.
Onetta's corporate headquarters facility is now located at 1195 Borregas Avenue in Sunnyvale, CA, 94089. The company can be reached by telephone at 408/744-3500, via facsimile at 408/744-3600, or by visiting the company's website at www.onetta.com.
