New Optical Sensor For Leitz Infinity

The Precitec LR sensor makes it possible to perform high-precision measuring of sensitive and inclined surfaces.

With Leitz Infinity, the most accurate 3D coordinate measuring machine available worldwide, it will be possible to measure surfaces of any kind. For this purpose, the Precitec LR white light sensor (lateral resolution) was integrated into the measuring system.

The Precitec LR sensor has an acceptance angle of 90° ± 40°. It is therefore suitable for measuring even very sloping surfaces with high precision – without contact or affecting the workpiece in any way. Features such as workpiece dimensions or profiles can be checked with the Precitec LR. The technology of the sensor also offers the potential to measure roughness and thickness in the future. Thanks to its high axial resolution, i.e. the ability to differentiate image points that are situated behind each other, it can also manage highly complex structures. Reflective, refractive, shiny, transparent and heavily inclined surfaces present no problem for the Precitec LR, for example lenses produced by the optical industry.

The technical principle of the sensor is based on chromatic confocal measurement. In this process white light is directed towards the surface to be measured in a wavelength-dependent manner. A spectrometer analyses the reflected light and determines the distance between the sensor and the measured object.

Leitz Infinity is equipped with the high-precision tactile High-Speed-Scanning LSP-S4 measuring head as standard. In combination with the non-contact Precitec LR, users can switch automatically between tactile and vision metrology within one measuring process.
