Renishaw Inc.eed, precision, and non-contact reliability in applications where space is at a premium, the RGH41 miniature linear encoder is shopfloor tough and can be used in linear motors and critical positioning motion systems.

Measuring 0.63 x 0.63 x 0.39 in. (15 x 15 x 9.8 mm), the encoder offers plug-and-play convenience in addition to its rugged construction. It can attain speeds up to 48 ft (15 m)/sec with resolutions reaching 0.2 microns. Cut-and-tape scale, wide set-up tolerances, and patented LED set-up indicator speed and simplify installation.

The non-contact encoder runs on 40 µm pitch scale with 0.8 mm ride height, which eliminates wear, friction, and hysteresis as reliability problems; its EMI/RFI shielding avoids temperamental effects. The company's patented filtering optics average reflections from multiple scale facets, which provides superior signal stability and accuracy even with contamination or minor damage to the scale. Industry-standard analog voltage and RS-422 digital outputs are available.
