Mahr Acquires Majority Interest In OKM Of Jena, Germany

- Acquisition strengthens Mahr's position in horizontal length metrology
- New entity to be named Mahr OKM GmbH
PROVIDENCE, RI -- The Mahr Group, parent company of Mahr Federal Inc., has announced the acquisition of a majority interest in Optische Koordinatenmesstechnik GmbH (OKM) of Jena, Germany. Mahr's stake in OKM will expand its horizontal length metrology portfolio and complement the company's line of leading optical measurement tools. The new entity, Mahr OKM, will benefit from Mahr's worldwide sales and service network. Mahr Federal Inc. is Mahr's sales, service and manufacturing entity in North America.
"OKM has been a leading provider of Universal Length Measuring machines for many years," said Dewey Christy, Product Manager for the Precision Length Metrology segment of Mahr Federal, "Mahr OKM's products will give Mahr the broadest possible range of Universal Length products, from low-cost production measuring tools to the finest laboratory dimensional calibration equipment available in the world. Mahr OKM's ULM Opal, ULM Rubin and ULM Topas instruments uniquely complement the market segments served by Mahr's existing family of 828 CiM, 828 UN and PLM Universal Length Measuring Systems. OKM's high precision optical CMM instruments are well recognized as well."

Mahr OKM will continue to be run by its existing management team, Holger Hage and Petra Bogdanski, with the addition of a new managing director, Karl-Joachim Bode.
