M-Tech, Aichi Tokei Denki, And Start Join Forces To Develop Next-Generation Ultrasonic Gas Meters

M-Tech Metering Solutions Company Limited (M-Tech), a subsidiary of The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas), has partnered with Japan’s Aichi Tokei Denki Co., Ltd. (Aichi Tokei Denki) and Shandong Start Measurement And Control Equipment Co., Ltd. (Start) to establish a joint venture. The new company, Shenzhen Aichi Shido Instruments and Measurements Co., Ltd. (Aichi Shido), will develop and produce next-generation ultrasonic gas meters, commencing operations on 11 July.

All three parties bring extensive experience and advanced technologies from their respective fields. M-Tech specialises in developing and marketing smart gas meters, incorporating micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) technology for automatic gas type and calorific value detection. Aichi Tokei Denki, with over 120 years of history in precision instrument manufacturing, has focused on developing ultrasonic flow meter technology for natural gas. Start contributes expertise in flow meter calibration technology.

The jointly developed natural gas ultrasonic meter features high-precision sensors, a proprietary gas leak early warning algorithm, and advanced low-power-consuming 4G communication technology. When abnormal pressure or flow is detected, the system automatically notifies the gas company for immediate follow-up, ensuring customer safety.

The new product boasts a lithium-ion battery life exceeding 10 years, effectively addressing measurement errors caused by low power. It also comes with a 10-year free maintenance guarantee, significantly reducing operating costs for gas companies and customers.

With Towngas Group’s extensive customer base on the Chinese mainland, including 400,000 commercial and industrial users, Aichi Shido’s next-generation gas meters will offer a safer and more efficient gas measurement solution to potential customers.
