Leica Industrial Measurement Systemsnd LTD500 laser trackers employ a high-accuracy tracking 3D laser interferometer and high precision angular encoders. The latter adds an integrated high-precision absolute distance meter.

These light, portable instruments can be set up independent of object size or space restrictions to perform 3D measurements of large objects. They feature an internal automatic function control and have a maximum target speed of < 6.0 m/s. Range of measurements is horizontal, ± 235º; vertical, ± 45º; and distance, 0-35 m.

Accuracies are:

  • Angle resolution: 0.14 in.
  • Distance resolution: 1.26 µm
  • Absolute accuracy (2s) of a coordinate ±10 ppm (µm/m)

When used on the shopfloor, the laser trackers provide automatic inspection of built object-points to conformity with the design. They deliver real-time results using the company's Axyz software.
