Laser Interferometer
The interferometer utilizes the single-frequency or homodyne method, which ensures small position error within a one-signal period. The manufacturer states that, because the helium-neon laser is integrated in the display unit, the measuring head dissipates almost no heat and can be kept small. In addition, the fiber optic connection between the laser and measuring head allows users to mount the display unit in any desired position.
The influences of the environmental parameters of pressure, temperature, and humidity on measuring accuracy are automatically compensated through the use of high-accuracy sensors, as is the temperature of the mounting surface or of the measured object. The sensors are individually calibrated and are traceable to national standards. The calibration data are placed in non-volatile storage in the sensors or laser and are automatically downloaded to the display unit.
Designed as a stand-alone system, the interferometer includes a display and keyboard. In addition, the new design of interferometer optics with two parallel output beams and a small measuring head can enable fast and simple adjustment.
