Intuitive Reflex Software Adds Flexibility To Brown & Sharpe MICROXCEL PFX 454
Brown & Sharpe's MICROXCEL® PFX® 454 is now available with REFLEX™ measuring software.
This low cost, intuitive software brings manual CMM simplicity to high-speed, direct computer control (DCC) measurement and inspection operations at a fraction of the cost of traditional DCC CMMs. The PFX REFLEX can be switched quickly between manual and fully automated, DCC operation while running the same software.
The economical PFX REFLEX includes a machine-mounted controller with a built-in VGA monitor and highly intuitive REFLEX graphics user interface (GUI) allowing users to perform 1, 2 and 3 dimensional measurement without the need for an expensive computer system. REFLEX software allows the PFX to be configured as a caliper, micrometer, height gage, dial indicator, or CMM, in either the DCC or manual mode, by selecting icons on the operator interface.
During the measuring routine, workpiece dimensions are compared to nominals, and out-of-tolerance conditions are indicated on the controller's VGA screen.
This flexibility allows the PFX REFLEX to be used as a walk-up measurement station for first piece or one-of-a-kind manual measurements, a programmable, repeatable inspection station for automatic measurement, or as a flexible gage that can be quickly configured to measure a variety of parts or parts families. All of these functions can be selected and executed with the same easy-to-use GUI and intuitive REFLEX software.
The PFX REFLEX can also perform scanning operations in the manual mode using the manual scanning option. In the manual mode, a scanning "speedometer" graphically indicates the quality of the measurement data being collected by the operator, based on probe speed.
Part programs can be stored on a PCMCIA "Smart Card" to speed repetitive measuring tasks. With Smart Cards, inspection programs can be transferred between measuring systems that use REFLEX software for an added level of inspection efficiency and flexibility.
The PFX REFLEX, with a large 458 mm X 510 mm X 406 mm measuring range, features all-aluminum construction for improved thermal stability, dimensional/torsional and geometric stability, and low weight. Wrap around air bearings provide optimum measuring repeatability. The patented ZMOUSE™ controls probe and software operation from the Z-axis, reducing manual measurement time by as much as 50 percent.
An optional DATAPAGE®/RT statistics package can be installed on a user's PC to automatically collect data, perform statistical analyses, and print a concise, one-page statistical report of measurement results.
