The VHS 8800 testing system provides high strain rate mechanical testing capabilities for a wide range of industries and applications
Instron Corporation0 testing system provides high strain rate mechanical testing capabilities for a wide range of industries and applications such as automotive crash studies, data collection for composites modeling, and the simulation of metals forming processes.

Using servo-hydraulic actuators with combined simultaneous load and velocity capabilities up to 100 kN at 20 m/s, the system can be applied to compression, tension, bend, and component tests. It also features the ability to perform quasi-static tests.

The system employs high-performance actuators, seismic reaction masses, and low inertia/high resonant frequency load measurement systems to achieve strain rates up to 1,000 s-1. Additionally, special gripping systems permit pre-acceleration of the hydraulic actuator before the start of specimen loading, which ensures that the entire test is performed at the required velocity.

Optional accessories that extend the range of applications include environmental chambers operating in the -150–600°C range.
