Hexagon Launches Manual Probe Head Change Solution For Bridge And Gantry CMMs

Cost-effective alternative to automated probe head exchange enables manufacturers to quickly and easily enhance inspection flexibility

Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division has announced the release of the Manual Application Changer (MAC), a manual probe head change solution that allows users to quickly and easily exchange indexing and fixed HP-S-X5 and HP-S-X5 HD probe heads on bridge-type and gantry coordinate measuring machines (CMMs).

MAC provides a cost-effective alternative to automated probe head exchange for CMM users requiring less frequent probe head changes. By enabling easy switching between high precision fixed and versatile indexable probe heads, this simple manual solution allows manufacturers to maintain productivity and flexibility while meeting their varying application needs.

“Many manufacturers face a familiar challenge – cutting costs while increasing flexibility to fulfil varying customer requirements,” says Marco Mussino, Product Manager. “This means ensuring quality teams have the right CMM sensor and probe head when they need it. But for some manufacturers automated probe head exchange tools don’t currently provide ROI for their operations. MAC fills that gap for manufacturers looking for measurement flexibility at lower cost.”

MAC is available on compatible GLOBAL bridge CMMs, DEA DELTA SLANT and DEA ALPHA gantry CMMs. It is also available as a CMM retrofit on special request. MAC is now available worldwide.
