CimWorks, a GE Fanuc Companyr displaying information such as inspection routines and instructions in various formats for portable data gathering, the Zipper handheld SPC data collector is a lightweight, full-functioning unit that can resist the harsh conditions typical of manufacturing environments. It has an IP54 rating and can withstand a 3-ft drop onto concrete.

The backlit display and screen resolution of 240 x 100 provide high visibility even in dark lighting conditions. The device comes with 2 MB of data storage memory and has a battery life per charge is at least 8 hrs, which means it can be used for an entire work shift.

Both analog and digital gages can be attached to the unit for easy gage entry. The device also supports input from standard bar codes, and an LED and speaker above the display screen gives the user immediate feedback about how the measurement fits into specifications. Part setups and data can be transferred using a docking station that connects to the serial port of a standard PC. Data is automatically imported into the VisualSPC database for analysis and reporting.
