GSI Lumonics Sells Metrology Line to Quality Vision International

GSI Lumonics Inc. (Kanata, Ontario) has sold the operating assets of its VIEW metrology products line to Quality Vision International, Inc. (Simi Valley, CA). The effective sale date was April 17. Terms and conditions of the transaction have not been disclosed.

The VIEW product line is an automated, non-contact dimensional coordinate measurement system that provides the ability to perform micron-accurate measurements of manufactured component parts and assemblies. The product serves major electronics, telecommunications, and computer manufacturers.

According to Charles Winston, president and CEO of GSI Lumonics, "Consistent with our focus on select core markets, we are divesting areas of our business that are no longer strategic to our growth plans. We are pleased to have found a strategic buyer for the metrology product line who will continue to grow the business."

Quality Vision International provides vision-based dimensional metrology systems for quality control in the global marketplace. "Meeting the needs of existing GSI Lumonics customers is a top priority," said George Guarino, CFO of Quality Vision International. "We are committed to providing the highest level of service and best available products to these customers."
