Gage Laboratory CMM

LK Metrology Systems, Inc.oordinate measuring machine (CMM) is capable of sub-micron accuracies with 20-millionths-inch repeatability. Work envelopes start in size from 40 x 40 x 32 in. It is targeted for use in gage laboratories where CMMs are generally used for R&D or to calibrate master gages. A typical application is to certify measurements of a series of shop floor CMMs, which might be used on an automotive cylinder-head or block line.

This CMM uses a standard LK MSI controller and Camio programming software. Construction improvements include larger air bearing ratios and beam cross sections, which allow tighter control of machine axes. In addition, the Y and Z beams, or ways, are manufactured from ceramic, providing thermal stability. Other improvements have been incorporated into the air bearing designs, drive systems, and scale systems. The machine uses the new generation Renishaw TP200 probing system.
