Lake Mary, Fla. – January 31, 2003 – Portable coordinate measurement machine (CMM) manufacturer FARO Technologies, Inc. announced a strategic arrangement with HighRES, Inc., providers of CAD/CAM integrated 3D digitizing software.

The Platinum FaroArm and Titanium FaroArm, as well as the FARO Laser Tracker, will now ship with HighRES' reverse-engineering software modules – at no additional charge.
This will completely eliminate the need for FARO's customers to import 3D data from stand-alone platforms. It will also significantly increase productivity by allowing users to work directly in their CAD program of choice.

"It's an ideal addition to our CMMs' current CAM2 Measure 3.9 software," said Ken Steffey, FARO Software Product Development Manager. "The FARO HighRES package affords our customers the flexibility to use their existing SolidWorks, Autocad, Mechanical Desktop/Inventor, Mastercam or CADKEY application with our measurement system."

FARO CEO, President and Co-founder Simon Raab added: "FARO CMMs are so versatile that they're used for quality control and design engineering purposes in practically every industry. Our hardware's open architecture, combined with arrangements with cross-platform vendors like HighRES, makes our technology even more accessible to a greater number of facilities that want to improve their products and processes – while using software they're already familiar with."

The Company will continue to review proposals from other third-party software companies in order to further broaden the digitizing options for its clients.
