eM-Probe CAD Automated Inspection Programming
CAD Based Programming
eM-Probe-CAD uses nominal CAD geometry to generate, optimize and verify off-line inspection programs for CMM's (Coordinate Measuring Machines) and NC machine tools. All programming is displayed in real-time 3D graphics, so you can quickly review and modify probing sequences, angle changes, etc. prior to running the inspection. The result is a complete, verified, collision-free program. No reprogramming is required..
CAD Integration Leader
All eMPower/ Quality information is stored within the CAD part model thus eliminating troublesome translations and duplication commonly found in other systems. Also CAD features and tolerances can be used directly. You can quickly generate inspection programs and fully analyze these features and tolerances against the measured data. All eMPower/ Quality information can be automatically updated to accommodate changes.
Machine Independent Programs
eM-Probe-CAD allows you to generate complex inspection programs for machines regardless of their DMIS implementation, i.e., you can fully program CMM's which have limited or no DMIS capability and NC machine tools which do not understand DMIS at all. With eM-Probe-CAD you can create machine independent programs that use a machine tool interface (MTI) to establish real-time, bi-directional communication with the machine tool.
eM-Probe-CAD eliminates the need to learn numerous programming languages.
Analyzes Inspected Data
eM-Probe-CAD performs quick and accurate analysis by comparing inspected data with specified design tolerances (ANSI Y14.5 and ISO are supported). eM-Probe-CAD consistently interprets and analyzes measured data irrespective of the inspection device used to collect it. Analysis results are displayed on the screen to quickly show in and out of tolerance conditions. Optional analysis modes and the ability to "float" measured data when fitting it to the nominal CAD model significantly increase the ability to evaluate the potential for rework.
Programs NC Machine Tools
eM-Probe-CAD allows you to program your NC machine tool to
perform complex CMM applications.
Easy to Learn and Use
eM-Probe-CAD is fully embedded within several major CAD/CAM systems providing you with the same CAD user interface. This CAD "look & feel" makes eM-Probe-CAD very easy to learn and use.
Automatic Program Generation
eM-Probe-CAD virtually eliminates the trial and error aspect of programming inspection machines. User specified path defaults, automatic approach/retract along either the CAD surface normal, a selected machine axis or a specified vector and automatic safe points for entering/exiting holes and on safe planes are a few of the many provided functions to help assist in program generation.
Using eM-Probe-CAD, you can generate and verify inspection programs in a fraction of the time required to create them manually.
Concurrent Engineering Tool
Component and assembly tolerances defined by engineering can be used during programming for the identification of critical features and analysis of inspection results.
By promoting a productive dialogue between design and manufacturing, eMPower/ Quality products effectively promote concurrent engineering practices.
Typical Applications
- CAD based inspection and analysis
- Engineering provides a CAD model with no drawing. Need to quickly generate an inspection program and analyze inspected data based on the master CAD model.
- Must reduce CMM programming time
- The CMM currently is a bottleneck. Need to reduce the time to generate programs and begin programming off-line since CMM availability is low.
- Inspection on NC machine tools
- Need to generate in-process inspection programs that can run on the machine tool.
- Off-site supplier manufactures parts
- Need to create machine independent inspection programs and analysis for suppliers who manufacture parts at their remote facilities.
