Carl Zeiss IMT announces new North American headquarters

Including leading edge CMM manufacturing facility

Carl Zeiss recently announced it is building a new North American headquarters — and the industry's most technologically advanced coordinate measurement machine (CMM) manufacturing facility — in Minneapolis.

The new 90,000-square-foot campus — scheduled to open in November 2001 — will enable Carl Zeiss to maintain its leadership role in manufacturing state-of-the-art CMMs.

"We have outgrown our current space and are virtually busting at the seams," said Greg Lee, president and CEO, Carl Zeiss IMT Corporation. "Our new campus will enable us to continue growing our business, while offering customers expanded consulting, specialized training and systems support services."

With the added technological amenities and space, Carl Zeiss anticipates it will increase manufacturing capacity by 30 percent, increase workflow efficiency and eliminate temporary warehousing of raw materials.

"Zeiss wants to provide greater efficiencies for its employees by placing departments that work closely together adjacent to one another,"
said Josef Schernthaner, director of Production and Quality, Carl Zeiss IMT Corporation."

The new headquarters will house corporate offices, design engineering departments, a larger manufacturing area, and a customer and technician training center.

Carl Zeiss IMT designs and manufactures coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and other industrial metrology equipment. For more information, contact Carl Zeiss, 7008 Northland Drive, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55428, (800) 752-6181, or visit http://www.zeiss.com/imt.
