CNC Software, Inc.rcam Mill Version 8 is designed to make complex machining easier. Special features in this release include multisurface associativity, high-speed machining, and integrated feedrate optimization.

In this version, the toolpath and model are linked, so if the tooling or model is changed, one mouse click brings an updated toolpath. Users can drag and drop parameters, toolpaths, and tool definitions from one task to another and can create a library of common operations that can be applied to new models. In addition, the software lets you machine solids and surfaces together in the same model.

Another feature is high-speed machining of parts with multiple surfaces. This alternative machining method combines high feedrates with high spindle speeds, specific tools, and specific tool motion to deliver faster turnaround and a superior quality finish. High-speed functions for shops that program with multiple surfaces include variable Z-level cuts, smooth tool motion both on and off the part, and continuous Z-level looping.

With its integrated feedrate optimization, users can run a job at varying feedrates to save time and money as well as reduce tool wear. Features include constant volume removal, in which the feedrate is slowed through deep material and speeds through shallow stock, and smart cornering for smooth transition in tight areas.
