Brown & Sharpe Executive Departs; New Director Elected
Brown & Sharpe Manufacturing Co. (North Kingstown, RI) announced the departure of Charles A. Junkunc, executive vice president of strategic development, effective Dec. 31 to pursue other personal and business ventures. Junkunc joined the company in April 1992 as vice president and CFO. He assumed his present position in December 1998 and led the company through its transition from a machine tool business to a metrology company.
"We greatly appreciate Chuck Junkunc's many valuable contributions to the company during his tenure, most notably leading the acquisition of DEA S.p.A. in 1994 and the company's secondary stock offering in 1996, and wish him well in the pursuit of his new endeavors," said Frank T. Curtin, chairman, president, and CEO.
In other news, retired General Motors Corp. executive Richard M. Donnelly was elected a director by the board of directors at a regular meeting Dec. 10. Donnelly, 56, held various positions during his 38-year career with GM in general management, manufacturing and vehicle development, and international business strategy development. He last served as president of GM Europe until his retirement earlier this year.
Currently Donnelly is a principal of Donnelly Associates, a business consulting firm he established this year that develops and assists in the execution of strategies for manufacturing, restructuring, and globalization of manufacturing businesses. He also serves as a director of Detroit Diesel Corp. and Powerway.
With Donnelly's election, Brown & Sharpe's board now has 10 members.
"We are extremely pleased to have Richard Donnelly join our Board as he brings many years of global manufacturing and business experience in the industrial manufacturing sector of the world economy, in which our global metrology business participates," stated Curtin.
