Z-Mike, Metrology Division of Beta LaserMikeke Model 283 self-contained laser micrometer offers ease of use, high accuracy, and reliable gaging, and is designed to cut costs through reduced product rework and labor costs. The system uses a state-of-the-art touchscreen interface with Windows-style menus that reduces operator training time.

The device is suited for applications requiring the highest measurement accuracy, SQC data, and process control. The processor and scanner reside within the same rugged housing. The gage – which measures parts that are hot, soft, radioactive, delicate, sterile, brittle, and more – employs non-contact laser scanning technology, ensuring that products aren't scratched or damaged during the measurement process. No adjustments are required between part measurements and there are no parts that can wear out.

Other features include visible and audible alarms that alert the operator of a part that's out-of-tolerance, auto-calibration adjusts for thermal expansion in non-standard gaging environments, and a fiber logic option for measuring transparent and translucent parts. In addition, data calculations and displays let you perform many analytical functions simultaneously. Parts can be measured and sorted by tolerance limits while standard deviations are calculated. Dimensional and statistical data are available as the products are measured. Standard and customized fixtures are available.
