3D Laser Digitizing System
Using its patented line-range, laser probing technology, the system can scan parts from all orientations, and then rotate the data back into a common coordinate system. Operators can digitize free form surfaces and parts of all sizes, especially those with complex geometry. Typical parts include plastic and rubber components, EDM electrodes, extrusions, molds, dies, and castings.
The system utilizes Surveyor Scan Control software, which controls scanning motion and sensor settings, and contains advanced data-editing and automation features. The digitized scan data can then be processed further with optional CMM software. The system also provides reverse engineering, toolpath generation, and mesh conversion capability.
The system is built on a granite base and uses non-contact optical steel scales on steel members for dimensional and thermal stability. All ways, bearings, scales and motors are enclosed or protected against harsh environments. The design emphasizes powerful bearing ratios and precision pre-loaded mechanical bearings on hardened and ground steel ways. Its straight and square construction uses a dual-beam steel bridge to ensure mechanical accuracy. In addition, the system features brushless, non-contact linear motors to help eliminate the heat, vibration, wear, backlash and cogging.
The system offers a linear accuracy of 6.4 µm + L (mm), repeatability of 0.00024-in./0.006, a standard scale resolution of 0.00004-in./0.001, and a maximum speed per second of 24-in./610-mm.
