3000i Series Portable CMM

ROMER, Inc.ra-precision 3000i portable coordinate measuring machine is designed for industries in need of a way to inspect or reverse engineer workpieces that are impractical or impossible to move to a stationary CMM. The 3000i has an accuracy of 0.0008-in. within a 6 ft measuring envelope and offers the following features:

• A 360° infinite rotation of the arm's principal axes with or without the removable counterbalance, enables the inspection of difficult-to-reach details and avoids arm damage caused by hitting the arm against a rotational hard-stop.
• A package that includes the PowerProbe touch trigger scanning probe, which improves system performance by eliminating operator touch pressure variations and provides scanning data collection capabilities.
• A clamping system that requires no tools and allows for fast set-ups (less than two minutes). This new clamping system also provides repeatable mounting force and a small footprint.
• A compact and lightweight design that allows the arm to be checked as standard luggage on commercial airlines.
• Quick-change probes that can be changed on the fly without tools or re-calibration. The system automatically recognizes and compensates for the type of probe that has been installed.
• Carbon graphite arms that dimensionally stable regardless of temperature. The manufacturer offers a lifetime warranty on the carbon graphite arm tube.
• Arm that can be mounted in any configuration — upside down, horizontally or vertically — without re-calibration.
• A variety of measuring envelopes including 6-, 8-, 10- and 12-ft.

In addition, the manufacturer's PowerINSPECT software, or a choice of Windows-based inspection or reverse-engineering software, is available with the machine.
