Innovative Technology

Our 1200 Series micrometers contain a transmitter, receiver, processor electronics, touch screen and key pad all in a single package. Z-Mike's system design uses a special collimator lens which incorporates our patented optics, enabling high accuracy in a short focal length. A thin band of high-speed scanning laser light projects from the transmitter to the receiver. A part placed in the beam casts a shadow, which becomes the starting point for measurement.
The receiver houses a collector optic, photodiode, and preamplifier. Through our patented edge-sensing process, signals from the laser light entering the receiver are used by the microprocessor to calculate the dimensions represented by distances between the shadow edges. The dimensional data is instantly displayed, or can be transmitted to a computer for further processing.
