Ramberg To Lead Semiconductor Industry's First Predictive Process-Metrology Company
Sunnyvale, CA -- Metara, Inc., the first predictive process-metrology company for the semiconductor industry, recently announced that Fred Ramberg has been elected President and CEO. Ramberg, 49, most recently covered the industry as a senior analyst with M. S. Howells & Co., an institutional broker-dealer specializing in technology research. During his tenure on Wall Street, Ramberg also worked in institutional sales, M&A, and corporate finance. Previously, Ramberg worked directly in the semiconductor equipment industry in sales and marketing and directing a multinational engineering force.
In 2002, Ramberg brought Metara the first significant investment from a semiconductor industry partner, ATMI, the market leader in the creation and supply of critical semiconductor process materials. Since then, Ramberg caused investment in each subsequent funding round.
"Involved in the semiconductor equipment segment for over 20 years, I've seen unidentified contaminants bring a fab to its knees, destroying millions of dollars of valuable chips and leaving operators with no choice but to start over," Ramberg said. "From the perspective of Wall Street, I became aware of the untapped value of Metara's technology. I'm excited to seize this opportunity."
Jack Harris, Metara's Chairman of the Board said, "With critical process materials now numbering more than 50, contamination monitoring is not only important, it is a key to increasing yield. I've worked with Fred for many years and his identification of opportunities and market value brings a unique competitive advantage to Metara."
