The 3-D Scanning Probe, or API-Probe, performs high-speed, high-precision 3-D
surface scanning of part geometry, or can be used as a touch trigger probe.
In either mode of operation, the API-Probe delivers much higher measuring
accuracy and speed than conventional touch trigger probes.
The probe can be designed to mount vertically or horizontally on any CMM's or
CNC machining centers. Five stylus mounting orientations are provided in
X,-X,Y,-Y and Z directions. A stand-alone interface box with either RS-232 or
analog output is available.
A state-of-the-art DSP controlled interface card is also available in either
IBM-AT or VME bus. The card provides advanced features such as 3 axis
simultaneous data latching, external data acquisition synchronization, software
and hardware overtravel protection, E-stop, user-defined touch trigger level
emulation, and optional probe geometric error mapping and compensation. Maximum
sampling rate is 100 kHz for all axes. The interface can provide up to 6 axes
of precision motion for your system when used with our servo-control daughter
board. Control software is also available.
