eM-Reverse
Accurate 3D Models of Physical Parts and Master Tools
eM-Reverse helps design and manufacturing engineers create accurate 3D CAD models from physical parts or master tooling. These CAD models can be used to produce CAM-NC programs or dimensional drawings in order to duplicate the original parts.
Automatic Data Collection
eM-Reverse works in parallel to the CMM machine and creates a standard CAD model of the feature while it is being inspected. You can use it to reverse engineer 2D and 3D splines of sculptured surfaces (U,V grids), as well as standard geometric shapes, including cylinders, planes, lines, arcs, and circles. EM-Reverse automatically collects the data for surface reconstruction leaving you to work on other tasks.
Duplication of Complex 3-Dimensional Surfaces
With eM-Reverse you set the level of accuracy of the CAD part model. This facilitates both quick, low accuracy duplication and more complex, high accuracy requirements. eM-Reverse performs best-fit regression analysis on the measured data to produce smooth 2D and 3D splines and geometric features. All raw measured data is available for you to use with your own customized data regression techniques.
Leader with CAD Integration
eM-Reverse leads the market with complete CAD integration. All information generated with eM-Reverse is stored within the CAD part model eliminating the troublesome translations and duplication commonly found in other systems.
Simple to Learn and Use
eM-Reverse is very easy to learn and use. The user interface is intuitive and includes descriptive on-screen messages which report the accuracy of each measured feature. Typically, an eM-Reverse user needs only one or two days of training.
eMPower/ Quality Machine Tool Interfaces
eM-Reverse requires the use of a eMPower/ Quality Machine Tool Interface (MTI).
The MTI handles all the device specific communication between the workstation and the inspection machine. MTIs are designed to interface with CMMs and NC machine tools. Over 30 standard MTIs are available today. For more information on MTIs, see your local Tecnomatix sales representative.
Typical Applications
- Prototype shop provides wood model.
- CAD model is required as basis to electronically document and manufacture the part.
- Tooling breaks and no drawings exist.
- A part is manufactured using a stamping die. The die breaks and the original drawing is not available to reproduce the die or the part.
- Old fixtures do not match drawings.
- Fixtures used for years have been modified to work in production. Old drawings and CAD models are not accurate.
- Competitor introduces a new design.
- Competitor introduces a new design and you require CAD data to analyze and document their design.
eM-Reverse is fully integrated with major CAD systems and uses the original CAD interface and database. Since eM-Reverse creates standard CAD model entities at the same time that the feature is inspected, inspectors can easily switch back and forth between EM-Reverse and the CAD modeling functions.
