The linear motor drive machine is designed specifically for the sheet metal industry. The machine is capable of dramatically reducing inspection times with an accuracy of ± .001" (corner to corner across a 48" x 48" measuring envelope; ± .0002" over features). It allows for quick first article inspection, directly off a CAD drawing, to eliminate scrap in a just-in-time environment.
Process control of a company's laser/punch machine was the second driving force behind this design. Data from inspected test sheets can be saved to an SPC program and monitored for changes. Maintenance work can then be performed when an individual turret starts to go out of specification. This allows the user to fix only what's broken, minimize preventative maintenance downtime, and increase machine up-time.
