A combination of the latest innovations in laser optics and high speed digital electronics, the 6D Laser Measuring System is a quantum leap over current technology, offering significant improvements in measurement speed, ease of operation, and accuracy. Without sacrificing the accuracy, simultaneous measurements eliminate the need for sequential test set-ups for different measurements, thus reducing operator requirements in obtaining measurements. The 6D system utilizes a powerful software package, compatible with Windows 95, 98, NT based PC's and laptops, to provide a fully interactive measurement program. The program greatly simplifies all phases of operation including: running the tests, obtaining the measurements, recording and analyzing data, and comparing the results to previous test runs. The 6D system may also be used to measure the accuracy of the four-body-diagonals of the machine travel envelope in addition to the six degree-of-freedom measurements: linearity, horizontal and vertical straightness, pitch, yaw, and roll. This measurement provides a direct reading of the machine's volumetric accuracy and repeatability over the entire work zone.
