Birch Street Partners With COMCASH To Add Liquor Monitoring System To its e-Procurement Application Suite

Newport Beach, CA - Birch Street Systems, a provider of e-Procurement and back office automation solutions for the hospitality industry, recently announced a strategic partnership with COMCASH, a leading retail software developer, to offer its Liquor Monitoring system with the Birch Street Application Suite. Liquor Monitor is a free-pour wireless system that helps bars, nightclubs, hotels and restaurants to manage their liquor pours and improve their profits.

Founded in 1996, Newport Beach-based COMCASH offers a wide range of point-of-sale (POS) solutions for a variety of industries including convenience stores, general retail, grocery and hospitality. COMCASH's Liquor Monitor can be implemented as a standalone solution, integrated with the COMCASH POS or with a variety of compatible POS systems from providers such as Micro, Aloha and Digital Dining.

Serving alcoholic beverages can be the most lucrative part of the food and beverage segment among hospitality businesses. However, these businesses can also suffer profit losses of up to 20 to 40 percent when over pours and drink giveaways regularly occur due to an inability to effectively and accurately monitor liquor pours. Liquor Monitor takes the inaccuracies and guesswork out of monitoring and tracking liquor pours and sales.

By offering wireless visibility of every pour in real time, Liquor Monitor enables bars, nightclubs, hotels and restaurants to accurately manage their liquor pours and improve their profits. Liquor Monitor gathers information to report what liquor brand was poured, how much was poured and the time of the pour. It will alert the user when anyone takes the spout off during business hours to prevent unauthorized pours. It also provides a consumption report showing how many bottles of liquor have been poured, which substantially reduces the time to count inventory. In addition, a "How to Make a Drink" program is included as a training tool.

"Our customers have been asking for a solution that helps them track liquor sales and generate reports," said Doug Sanborn, president and CEO of Birch Street Systems. "Because our software is delivered via the Software-as-a-Service model we are able to quickly integrate new applications, such as Liquor Monitor, to add value and satisfy the demands of our customers."

When integrating Liquor Monitor with POS systems, it provides the following features:

  • Tracks what drink was poured with what liquor brand;
  • Tracks which bartender rang up the drink and at what time;
  • Provides guidelines on how much liquor should have been poured compared to how much was actually poured;
  • Provides sales and profits analysis reports, including inventory control in real time;
  • Provides drink database detailing ingredients and glass size of each drink;
  • Identifies over pours, under pours and drink giveaways.

The Birch Street Application Suite is a comprehensive back-office business system built specifically to the needs of the hospitality and food service industries. The software provides a comprehensive tool to drive consistent business processes and financial control in a single property or across a portfolio of properties.
