Introducing THE CAP from Lion Precision The world's first Air Bearing Contact Adapter Probe that transforms your existing non-contact capacitance gaging system into a contact gaging system.
THE CAP consists of 2 parts. An air bearing gage head that contacts the measurement surface, and your existing 3/8" diameter capacitance probe that performs the measurement. THE CAP's innovative air bearing design eliminates stiction problems that prevents current standard LVDT's from achieving better resolution and accuracy.
THE CAP extends the use of existing non-contact capacitance measurement into new applications that were previously incompatible: such as measurement in oily or coolant environments
APPLICATIONS INCLUDE:
- Measure non-conductive material such as thin film to a resolution of 0.025 micrometer (0.000,001 inch) or better with contact forces of less than one gram.
- Quick, easy and accurate measurement of gage blocks, with higher resolution than offered by most calibration labs.
- Achieve very high resolution in environments where coolant or oil is present, typically not possible with non-contact approaches.
- Improved roundness measurements, when typical roundness gage indicator head is substituted by THE CAP.
