Westec 2001: Renishaw adds second booth to showcase scanning and reverse engineering, introduces Cyclone non-contact laser digitizing system
Booth to include Laser Cyclone and milling machine to demonstrate true "part-to-art-to-part" capability. A continuous-contact Cyclone system will also be at the show in the Delcam booth.

Recognizing the importance of reverse engineering and modeling in part design, Renishaw Inc. has added a second Westec 2001 booth dedicated to its advanced scanning technology. A supplement to its main Westec booth no. 3648, Renishaw's special scanning booth no. 2454 will demonstrate the company's innovative part duplication capabilities and showcase the new non-contact laser Cyclone scanning system.

Cyclone scanning goes a step beyond CAM/CAM's "art-to-part" capabilities, providing accurate "part-to-art-to-part" duplication of physical models, as will be demonstrated at the special booth. Driven by new Tracecut 23 software, a laser Cyclone will scan a part and generate NC machining code, which will be downloaded to an accompanying milling machine that will cut the part.

Renishaw's new laser scanning Cyclone is ideal for non-contact scanning of parts made from soft or delicate material, providing 1micron resolution and powerful filtering capabilities that make manual editing unnecessary. The laser feature is available on new Cyclones and can be retrofitted to in-field continuous-contact Cyclones.

Like all Renishaw scanning equipment, the laser Cyclone system uses Tracecut software to both drive the scanning job and produce NC machining code. Tracecut also allows manipulation for mirroring, scaling, rotation, translation, and inversion (male/female).

A continuous-contact touch Cyclone system will also be at Westec in the Delcam booth no. 3482.
