Non-Contact Linear Encoder
May 14, 2001
The unit, which can easily fit on the face of a quarter, measures 15 x 15 x 8.8 mm and employs miniaturized electronics, component-style construction, and a separate RGI34 interface PC board. Its open, non-contact optical system ends friction, hysteresis, and wear without sacrificing speed or resolution.
The encoder runs on 40 µm pitch scales with 1.5 mm ride height and wide setup tolerances.
