Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Optimizes Processes with Quality Software

U.S military aircraft designer and developer Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co. (Fort Worth, TX) is reaping benefits from the implementation of the eM-TolMate quality software solution from Tecnomatix Technologies, Inc. (Herzliya, Israel). The software, which is part of the new eMPower manufacturing solution, is being used by the aircraft company to optimize industrial processes.

Lockheed, which chose eM-TolMate based on its performance record and maturity level, is using it to define, predict, measure, and analyze tolerances in the entire industrial process. And since the implementation, the tolerances specified during design "are fully adhered to during the manufacturing and assembly processes."

"Tecnomatix eM-TolMate is a cornerstone of our Variation Management design method. It has helped us optimize the relationship between customer requirements of the air vehicle and the manufacturing quality of its assemblies," said Randy Schwemmin, Advanced Affordability Initiative manufacturing engineer at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. In addition to a shortened cycle time and reduced costs, "eM-TolMate provides a method to test designs without prototypes…. This practice is revolutionizing our approach to product design."
