The API Compliance Measuring System is designed to measure the deformation
or yield of a machining system under load.
The system consists of a precision load cell and displacement sensor that is
integrated into a rugged force/displacement vs. deformation relationship of the
system.
The API system is set apart from any other force/displacement measuring device
with its ability to measure both force and displacement accurately in one common
mechanism.
API's load cell utilizes a heavy duty flexure with a calibrated LVDT to measure
force and displacement. This is accomplished by measuring the combined displacement
force of a machine (structure and servo-stiffness) for a given force simulating
the cutting load. The compliance is a combined measure of the bending and deformation
of the machine structure and the machine's servo-stiffness.
